Travel and Transport

Getting to Guernsey is quick and simple whether by sea or air from the UK mainland or Europe. You can arrive in as little as 30 minutes by plane and once you’ve landed, it’s easy to get around by car, bus, bike or on foot. You don’t have to travel far to feel a million miles away, and our reception & reservations team are pleased to offer guests any assistance required with their travel and transport arrangements.

Flights

Guernsey is well connected to many major UK airports, with direct routes available year-round from cities including London, Manchester, Southampton, Bristol and Birmingham as well as Leeds-Bradford and other regional hubs, whilst charter flights operate from numerous European countries during the summer season.

The island’s two largest carriers are Aurigny, Guernsey’s state-owned airline which has been operating since 1968, and Flybe, Europe’s largest independent regional airline. Our reservations team would be more than happy to arrange flights from the UK on behalf of guests through an ABTA & ATOL bonded travel agent.

Ferries

Ferries

Condor Ferries was launched in 1964, the same year as Cobo Bay Hotel, and, like us, they have evolved considerably over the years to the modern fleet that connects passengers and their cars to Guernsey and Jersey from Poole, Portsmouth and St. Malo today.

Condor Liberation, a 102m trimaran operates the ‘northern route’ from Poole directly to Guernsey in approximately 3 hours and offers a choice of seating classes, whilst their more conventional ferry, Commodore Clipper, takes around 7 hours from Portsmouth and offers onboard cabins. Condor Rapide, an 86 metre wavepiercer, covers the ‘southern route’ from St. Malo in under 2 hours and all three vessels provide an inter-island service between St. Peter Port and St. Helier in as little as 1 hour.

Smaller high-speed passenger ferries are operated by Manche-Îles Express during the summer months between the Channel Islands and Normandy, with day trips occasionally available from Guernsey to Jersey and Diélette.

Car & Bicycle Hire

Whilst guests have the option of bringing their own vehicle over on Condor Ferries, hiring a car in Guernsey is relatively inexpensive and provides guests with a greater deal of flexibility and the opportunity to see even more of the island during their stay.

We are pleased to offer preferential rates with Europcar, the leading car rental company in Guernsey with over 250 latest models to choose from. Vehicles can be collected from the airport or harbour, where dedicated car parks are situated 'on site' to guarantee customers a speedy service, or alternatively, cars can be delivered to and/or collected from Cobo Bay Hotel by prior arrangement.

Guests wishing to take in Guernsey’s stunning coastline and quaint country lanes at a more serene pace can rent a bicycle during their stay - simply provide our reception team with your height and preferred bicycle type, and one can be delivered to Cobo Bay Hotel within a few hours.

Public Transport

Public Transport

Guernsey has an extensive, affordable and reliable bus service, with several stops available near Cobo Bay Hotel which offer a variety of routes throughout the day, making it easy to get around the island.

Routes 41 and 42 provide a frequent service into St. Peter Port in under 30 minutes, operating until midnight on Fridays & Saturdays, whilst the 91 and 92 'Guernsey vaeux' scenic routes operate around the north and south of the island, stopping off in St. Peter Port as well as Guernsey airport.

All routes cost just £1 per person with the exception of ‘night buses’ which only operate after 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Should you need to catch more than one bus to reach your destination then your ticket can be exchanged for a “transfer ticket”, whilst discounted multi-journey tickets can also be purchased in advance.

Our reception team will be pleased to provide you with route maps, timetables and directions to the nearest bus stop during your stay.

Taxis & Transfers

A number of independent taxi firms operate in Guernsey, with ranks located in St. Peter Port, St. Sampson and at Guernsey airport. Advanced bookings are strongly recommended, especially if you wish to travel early in the morning or during the evening when demand is greatest. If you would like us to arrange a transfer from the airport or harbour then please contact our reception team with your flight or ferry details.

Taxis to or from the airport or harbour should take 10-20 minutes and cost around £15, although this figure may increase when travelling in a larger vehicle or at peak times, late at night or on public holidays.

Intransit are an experienced local coach and holiday excursion operator, specialising in pre-booked package holiday and group transport. Operating a desk in the Guernsey airport arrivals concourse, they offer competitive pricing, with a prompt, smart and efficient service. Coach excursions and day trips to Herm and Sark also available to pre-book.
